Mezcla Abuelita Moka

Mezcla Abuelita Moka makes us think of being welcomed into our abuela's house on a Saturday morning. It’s the cafecito that fills the moka pot on the stove. It’s the coffee that brings together families. Like the moka pot, it’s approachable and ready to exist in a harsh environment but brings us together anyways—past, present, and future. Except with this coffee, we work to ensure that it is sourced sustainably and farmers are compensated fairly. Mezcla Abuelita Moka is a reflection of the same love as the mofongo and conversation. Warm in its undertones, with notes of chocolate, nuttiness, and tangerine, it invites you into the love of the family’s whole story.

Mezcla Abuelita Moka isn’t pretentious. Like the moka pot, it occupies the transition place between drip and Italian espresso, but this time it will sit between pour overs and third wave espresso. This is specialty coffee, but it’s more like using manteca instead of vegetable shortening to make the empanadillas.

Abuelita Moka can be a remembrance of the old things we love and want to keep around, but inviting us into new ways of doing them. Bichota is coffee that is in rhythm with its origins and for many folks around the world, the moka pot is the tradition to be reconciled with. With Abuelita Moka we can have better coffee that makes us feel and actually be in the collective with nuestra gente todos (all our people). Something we don’t get with what is more traditionally used in moka pot coffee.
